Tricyrtis formosana ‘ Dark beauty’
Tricyrtis formosana 'Dark beauty' has almost black buds that open in September to reveal exquisite white maroon spotted flowers. Held on strong stems that don't need staking that are clothed in spotted leaves. It is best to plant with a little shelter, but formosana is probobly the easiest form to grow.Plants are supplied bare root in Winter and early spring and in 1.5ltr pots from May till December.
PRIMULA ALPICOLA 9cm
This elegant and delicate looking primula is tougher than it looks! it has the most fantastic scent and is happy in damp places in Sun or shade. Native to the eastern Himalayas where it grows in shady bogs and alpine meadows it has adapted well to our British climate making it a great addition to the border or pond side, where it will form a good sized clump that can be divided after flowering. Schizostylus coccinea ‘major’
Schizostylis coccinea 'Major' brings a burst of colour late in the season when everything else is thinking of of going to bed for the Winter! It is happy in average growing conditions but doesn't like to dry out too much in the Summer, but neither does it like too much wet in the Winter, this makes it sound as if it's fussy but it's really a very easy plant that grows well here in Wales even with our somewhat soggy Winters. It will form a good sized clump eventually at least 60cms or more wide that can be divided preferably in Spring , although I have divided Schizostylis all through the seasons and it's never let me down.
Plants are supplied - bare root Oct - March . 1.5ltr pot - March onwards.
